Locations are in 3 categories: ART IN ACTION: events set up specifically for Sun Sept 29. The tour is filled with artists working and demonstrating. Get a peek at the process behind the creation. All artists are available to chat about technique, process, and inspiration. Are you interested in a particular art form? Come with your questions! You are welcome to bring your current project for advice and information. BARN QUILTS: traditional quilt blocks (sometimes with artist's license) painted and hung on locally significant buildings. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: art installations, art & craft shops, historical site, places to find local info and naturally beautiful spots.
Culture Days Art in Action
Hubs are a spot where you can park and walk to all exhibits in that hub. Locations are open 11am-4pm unless noted. The tour is filled with artists working and demonstrating. Noah’s Up-cycled Metal Art – artistic pieces welded and created from all recycled material. HUB – Lyndhurst Village 2. Alpaca Products & Demonstrations – presented by Round House Alpaca, from source to finished product. 3. Quilting – displays & demos by the Stone Bridge Quilters. Music & Inspiration – listen to local singer/songwriters perform their music and talk about their inspirations. Audience participation is encouraged. Pat Johnson, Tao Hipwell, Erika Lamon. TEA ROOM – take a break while you enjoy the music. Tea, Coffee & Sweets. 4. Painters – on display in the Love Blacksmith Shop built in 1887. A chance to see inside this historic building while viewing local painters' works. Weather permitting, artist will be painting onsite in this scenic spot at the Lyndhurst Creek. Local Painter – at Peter’s Post, refreshments and lunch available. Peter Kordos. 8. Fabric Artists – displays and demos of rug hooking, knitting, weaving, crocheting. Local and International Artisan work for sale – The Green Gecko.(designated tour info centre) Canada 150 Painted Paddles – a display of canoe paddles turn artwork. To commemorate Canada's 150th anniversary community members turned canoe paddles into art pieces. See paddles that have been painted, fabric-ed, wood burned, carved and more. HUB – Gleanna Lea Barn Restoration: 303 Lower Oak Leaf Road (watch for the dragon gates) 11. Authentic, Historic Building Restoration – visit an historic wood & stone masonry barn restoration in progress. Learn about traditional techniques. Demonstrations weather permitting. Mark Barclay, Jason Wills, Sean Price. Antique Car Display – Fully restored 1952 MGB on display.
HUB – Long Point School House : 3410 County Rd 3 12. Descendants of Daniel O’Connor and Bridget Trainor, pioneer settlers at Long Point (1830), south of Lyndhurst will be showing their artistic talents at the Long Point School. The Long Point School (SS#5) was built in 1862 and has been rehabbed back to the way it was around 1900. It closed as a school in 1960 and reverted to ownership of the O’Connor family. It is currently owned by Denis and Margaret Brennan, Margaret is the gr gr granddaughter of Daniel O’Connor. With loads of local connections and beautiful art pieces you'll have lots to chat about with these artists. Be sure to take a turn ringing the old school bell! Textile Art - sewing, quilting, crochet, knitting, weaving, Norah Brennan will be spinning wool. Painting – display, meet the maker, Bill Laughland, Michael O’Connor. Photography – display, meet the maker, Ted Kaiser. Card Making – display, meet the maker, Sheila Byrnes.

Restored Boler Camper – camping is ingrained in Canadian culture, take a peek inside this fully restored beauty.
HUB – Wiltse Creek Studio : 2935 County Rd 3 (designated tour info centre) – Charleston Lakeside Retreat : 40 Greer Point Lane 14. Vegan Body Products – presented by Charleston Lakeside Retreat Boutique, meet the maker, products for sale. Angela Bourbonnais. Pentecostal Church Camp Reunion – past camp goers and anyone interested are invited to visit the Retreat which was a church camp in the early 1900’s. Enjoy the opportunity to gather and share memories. Guests are encouraged to browse through the many old photos and tell stories. If you have photos or stories to share, please bring them along. Visitors will be invited to walk through the cabins (as available) Please feel free to bring a lawn chair and enjoy the afternoon among old and new friends. 15. Visual Arts, Photography, Painting, Chair Caning – demos and displays, a chance to chat with an artist that has turned her passion into a collaborative storefront. Dawne Fiegen.
